If you have seen the movie CARS, you'll immediately recognize the inspiration of The COZY CONE as the Wigwam hotels located along Route 66. The most popular of the 7 originally built is located in Arizona. There are two others still remaining today. One in Kentucky and the other is in....are you filled with anticipation, yet??? Wait for it... There is another one that is located in Rialto, just a stones throw away from my house.
How can you live this close to something so historic and not drive by and gawk! To my surprise the wigwams though located in a rough part of town, still look pretty good. They have recently been restored and the owners are working hard on the upkeep.
Not surprisingly, it only cost $66 (get it route 66…Clever!) on the weekdays to stay there. I was tempted to do so, until I witnessed someone picking up a prostitute right in front of the place. So, maybe all wait until we do the whole route 66 road trip and stay at the one in Arizona! Still I have driven by a couple times and the place seems to be off the hook with business; that's great to see for historic Route 66!
