Lucha Libre Taco Gourmet Shop, San Diego

Heading out to the San Diego area and need a great place to eat? Look no further than the Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop @ 1810 W. Washingon Street San Diego, CA. Not only is this place super cool (their website is http://www.tacosmackdown.com/ ) but they serve unique and delicious mexican food. Unique? Mexican food? Do those two words exist together in Southern Californian cuisine? Aparently so, at Lucha Libre! This is what they say about their Gourmet Tacos:

“Gourmet” Taco Shop?
Oxymoron?
NO! By “gourmet” we don’t
mean pretentious & pricey. We
just mean fresh ingredients, top
quality meats, and funky
delicious new menu items. Don’t
worry, we still have all the
taco shop classics: cooked and
priced right!

They give you free tortilla chips, like all good mexican places do, and offer a delicious variety of unique salsas. We ordered the surf and turf tacos and they did not disapoint, delicious! Everything is priced so well, under the taco portion of the menu there is a side note "Add Shrimp to any Taco for $1.00", when was the last time you saw that? My favorite local shop for fish tacos, Senior Baja, offers shrimp for additional $3!

The golden Champ's booth, if you call ahead of time, you can reserve this special seating!

The coolest high chairs I've ever seen

Butterflies at Pismo

If you are headed to the central coast any time between late October and February, then you should definitely go to the Pismo Butterfly groves to see them swarm as they winter in the eucalyptus trees near the beach. We went in January and were met with a good turn out. Thousands cluster in the trees, huddling together to stay warm. It was beautiful!

this one is for sale at my wife's etsy shop Photo Nouveau

Not only is there the butterfly attraction there, but the beach is beautiful. We took quite a lot of great pictures and ended up spending a few hours enjoying the blue skies, fresh ocean air and sunshine. For more information on the Pismo Butterfly groves check out monarchbutterfly.org
